DRAMA CLUB

We have a new and experienced drama teacher joining us this year, Ioanna Kordatou. Creative expression through drama and theater has significant benefits for children, and it is something we seek to implement at Morningside Montessori Elementary: self-confidence, imagination, teamwork and cooperation. Communication skills and emotional expression are some of the qualities that are cultivated and promoted via drama and theater. It’s also so much fun! The children play theatrical games, create their own narrative and express themselves through this beautiful and essential art form.

CHOIR AND GROUP SINGING

Group singing can be a fun and rewarding experience for children. Singing is one of the most positive forms of human activity, supporting physical, mental and social health as well as individual development. Singing is important because it builds self-confidence, promotes self-esteem, engages the emotions, promotes social inclusion, supports social skill development, and enables children of different ages and abilities to come together successfully and create something special in the arts with no props or other objects - just their voice. Learning to make music together requires the respect of others and teaches implicit communicative rules and skills. Our talented music teacher Vicky Anastasiou will be conducting the lessons.

Music plays an essential role in capoeira: percussion and singing are used extensively to set the rhythm of the moves.
